Meet Our Team

As the industry evolved from Life Insurance Sales to Financial Planning, Bill continued his professional development by studying and attaining a Diploma in Financial Planning in 1993. He qualified as a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) in 2000. The CFP designation is the highest qualification that can be attained in this field.

Over the years Bill also developed a General Insurance Multi-agency and transitioned this to a Licenced General Insurance Brokerage during 2002, founding the company Bill Owen Insurance Brokers Pty Ltd. On 1st January 2004, Bill Owen Insurance Brokers Pty Ltd was granted an Australian Financial Services Licence under the amended Corporations Law. Bill also holds a Diploma of Financial Services (Insurance Broking).

Bill’s passion in life has been aviation. Bill holds a Commercial Pilot’s Licence and Command Instrument Rating. He flies the company owned Mooney 201 aircraft regularly. Bill is also the current President of the North Queensland Aero Club.

Angela has a Diploma of Financial Services (Insurance Broking) and has gained broad Insurance Industry experience having worked for both Insurance Companies and other Insurance broking firms.

Although Angela now specialises in the large commercial side of the business, through her experience she can adapt quickly to assist clients with aviation, domestic, strata…in fact all quotes and enquiries that come her way.

Angela is well respected throughout the business community because of her professionalism which is combined with a genuine interest in her clients’ welfare.

Energetic and capable are two words that describe Angela well; she never seems to stop and does everything to the maximum of her ability.

She is devoted to her family and loves camping, cooking and riding her bike.

Sonya also has a passion for Aviation Insurance and assists our Principal Bill Owen, in managing the Aviation Insurance Portfolio.

Sonya says she ‘loves aircraft insurance’, which makes her perfect for the job.Sonya has attained an RG146 Tier I qualification in Insurance Broking and is working towards her Diploma.

A very proud mum of a lovely little girl, Sonya also finds time to enjoy camping, fishing and motor bike riding with her family at every opportunity.

Amy is now our claims officer handling most of the claims for the business and is the ‘most requested’ member of staff when clients phone.

Amy has been studying to advance herself in the Insurance industry since she started as a Trainee. She has attained the RG146 Tier II (Insurance Broking) qualification and is working towards Tier I.
‘Efficiency’ should be Amy’s middle name as she takes her position in the business very seriously and always goes the extra mile for both her clients and employer.

Shopping with her friends and going to the gym in her spare time are Amy’s favourite pursuits outside the office.

Linda does administration support throughout the departments as required and enjoys attending networking functions and marketing our business when the opportunity arises.

An active granny, Linda is involved with the North Queensland Aero Club and also visits the gym on a regular basis.

Ben specialises in Commercial and Professional Indemnity Insurance. He is meticulous in his attention to detail, and looks after the quality control of the brokerage.

Ben enjoys watching Rugby League and likes the occasional XXXX Gold!
